DULUTH, MN — The Great Lakes Shipping season is getting off to a start, at least here in the Twin Ports.
The Honorable James Oberstar passed under the Aerial Lift Bridge at 10 p.m. Monday making it the first laker to leave the Duluth harbor this season.
It was destined for Two Harbors.
The start of the commercial shipping season for the St. Lawrence Seaway, however, is delayed until April due to high water levels.
Early Monday morning the Burns Harbor departed the Superior Entry with a load of iron ore.
